Your brakes are without question the most important safety feature on your vehicle, and many owners often take them for granted. You depend on them every time you get behind the wheel, and the last thing you want is to worry about whether or not they’re going to be there when you need them most.
The braking system in a vehicle is a pivotal safety component, as the capability to decelerate or slow down quickly is essential for avoiding collisions. Therefore operating a vehicle with poorly maintained brakes is a danger to you, your family, and others on the road here in Victoria. In fact, after tires, faulty brakes are the leading vehicle defect reported in highway accidents.
Because there are so many components to your braking system that must cooperate altogether, it’s undoubtingly wise to leave your brake repairs to the pros. Our expert technicians will get your vehicle’s braking system in optimal condition.

Brake Services – What Our Shop Technicians Can Do for You:
Our experienced technicians are here to provide you with reliable and efficient brake repair services. Our team is well-versed in all aspects of brake repair, from routine maintenance to complex repairs. We use industry-standard diagnostic equipment to accurately identify any issues with your braking system and recommend the best course of action. Here’s what our mechanics can assist with:
-
Brake Pads, Calipers & Rotors
Calipers are inspected for leaks and replaced as required. Brake pads and rotors are replaced. Caliper slides and mounting brackets are serviced and brakes are bled.
-
Brake Line Replacement
New brake lines are fabricated to fit your vehicle when the original is rusted and/or leaking. From the master cylinder to the front brake caliper, master cylinder to rear brake hose, or rear brake hose to rear wheel cylinder, we can make them all!
-
Wheel Cylinders
The hydraulic part of the drum brakes that pushes the brake shoes against the brake drum to stop the vehicle. We replace wheel cylinders with every drum brake repair.
-
Master Cylinder
The hydraulic component of the brake system that actuates the front and rear brakes. If you feel the brake pedal sinking to the floor this is an indication of the master cylinder bypassing brake fluid internally. This should be addressed immediately!
-
Emergency Brake
Also known as the parking brake, is used to prevent the vehicle from moving when parked should the transmission fail to hold the vehicle. Usually integrated with the rear brakes, cables should be inspected for wear and rust.
-
Brake Drums and Shoes
Brake drums are measured and machined when possible. Brake shoes and wheel cylinders are removed from the backing plates. The backing plates are cleaned and shoe contact points are lubricated. The wheel cylinders, brake shoes and spring hardware are replaced. The brake shoes are adjusted to the drums and the wheel cylinders are bled.
-
Rotor Machining
The brake rotor is measured for thickness. Each brake rotor has a manufacturer’s set minimum thickness for safety. The rotor is machined if there is enough metal remaining. If the rotor is too thin, it is replaced.
-
Diagnose & Repair Antilock Brake Systems
Road testing for the customer concern. Diagnostic tools are used to retrieve trouble codes from the various modules in the vehicle. The technician interprets the codes and runs the necessary tests and inspections to diagnose the antilock brake system.
*Important Note: The components of a brake service can vary depending on the condition of each part. For instance, in some cases, new rotors may be necessary along with the replacement of brake pads. Additionally, certain brake services must be performed on both wheels of the same axle in order to keep the system in balance. It is essential that parts on each side of the vehicle are in sync for the system to function properly. If you suspect your brakes are not functioning properly, schedule an appointment with our team of technicians and ask for a brake inspection service.

How Often Should You Check Your Brakes?
We recommend you inspect your brake system, including brake fluid, pads, rotors, and parking brake, every 12 months/24,000 km.
And of course, if you notice anything out of the ordinary, such as unusual noises, warning lights, spongy brakes, or leaking brake fluid, don’t hesitate to contact us for an inspection or a brake repair. Greater Victoria is notorious for its unpredictably wet road conditions—one minute it’s pouring, the next it’s sunny, and then it starts snowing—so it’s imperative that you maintain your brakes regularly and never take them for granted.
How to Tell When You Need New Brakes:
You may need to replace your brake pads, rotors, and brake fluid if you hear any new sounds or experience a decrease in brake pedal response. Worn brake pads can make a squeaking noise which will get louder as the pads continue to wear. Low brake fluid pressure and worn pads can both lead to a long delay when trying to stop the vehicle. In addition, warped rotors can cause vibrations when braking, which can be confused with the pulsing of the ABS system.
